THE KIDS LOVE IT HERE, I WILL BE GOIN BACK THE END OF THE YEAR.

  2. Miss M Coombes Says:

This was the first time my son had been on hoiiday and still months later he talks about it. Myself, my partner and my son (6 at the time) went for one week in the first week of October. We arrived at the hotel to find we’d been given a room overlooking the pool, this was just fantastic, especially as my son met some friends whilst there and could see when they were in the pool! With the room over looking the pool it also gave a side sea view, which was fantastic to wake upto, if you get the option to pay extra i would without a doubt choose a pool view. Our room had a faulty patio door and within hours of reporting this, it was fixed. We had no further problems with the room or hotel for the duration of our stay. The rooms were appartment style twin bedroom with sofa bed and a spare bed underneath that, there was plenty of room, and the kitchen was adequte for our needs. The room was very clean with maid service who were very friendly. We stayed self catering but on a few occasions paid for either breakfast or both breakfast and dinner, this was a self serve buffet style, and there was enough choice of food to please all. You could pay at reception for this service and the price was very reasonable. The entertainment certainly pleased my son, but overall was very cheesy, but the entertainment people worked very hard indeed during day and night to keep all happy and entertained. There was also a man who did caricature, in the bar, my son had this done, and it was wonderful, he’s framed it and put it on his wall. My son also went into the kids club (free) and loved it, it gave us 2 hours of a little peace and time to ourselves. We went on a boat trip (2 hours) which was lovely and can be booked on the beachfront, we also did a trip to the pirate show in Magaluf, this was just loved by all of us, well worth the money, please be aware tho that children 3 and under have to sit on the parents laps during the show performance, included in the price was transport and also a small buffet meal, with local drink for adults and children. Also we went into the old town of Alcudia as theyhave a market on a Saturday, a bus is sited outside the hotel or taxi is availble, we opted for taxi both ways as the buses get very very busy. There is a supermarket on site, with everything you need, but if you walk just minutes away there are also other supermarkets which are cheaper. We met some very lovely people whilst here, this helped when we had a 5 hour delay at the airport on our return flight! Overall we had a fantastic holiday, and would definatley return.

  3. Mr G Turnbull Says:

Will certainly not return to this hotel. The location is poor for all except the beach. Staff ranged from indifferent to rude. The beds we had were the worst we have ever experienced, to the point where we had real back pain after the very first night. My wife and I are not overweight and have never had anything like that in any other hotel. Even the children were complaining about the beds. The air conditioning was turned off, no window screens provided, and plenty of mosquitoes around, result being lots of unnecessary mosquito bites. Also a security issue, as there are no staff wandering the grounds after hours (we heard many drunken visitors causing disruption at all hours without interference from any hotel staff) and since there are only balcony doors, no windows, your options without air conditioning are either to leave the door ajar and unlocked, or to swelter.

Lastly, the package tour arrangement was for a flight from Mallorca on a Sunday at 0230 in the morning. The hotel expected (but did not tell you on arrival, or when confirming departure arrangements as requested by the hotel) that you check out by 12pm on the Saturday, so about 14 hours in advance of flights. Not sure whose fault that lack of planning is, whether the hotel or the tour operator, but the hotel staff were very rude regarding the matter and suggested no option, in spite of us travelling with 2 small children and the weather being rather chilly at the time. This shattered any image of a family friendly place. Also could not get Spanish food anywhere in the vicinity.

Just as an example of staff indifference / lack of helpfulness. When we first turned on our television, the station was a German-language one, and we could not get the station to change. I asked the staff member on reception duty, and he told me that that was the only channel available. Thinking I had been misunderstood, I explained again, that it was a German channel, and surely in Spain there might be at least one other channel that would be in Spanish? His reply was that there was only 1 channel, in German. Later we found the remote control, which was able to change channels and there were other options. The specific question was not very important, but the lack of willingness to be at all helpful set the tone for much of the trip.

  4. Miss G Tyrrell Says:

Returned yesterday, was quite scared about going to Alcudia Pins after reading some of the reports on here but we had a fantastic time.

When me, my partner and our 3 year old son arrived we were warmly welcomed by reception, the place is absolutely spotless, rooms are a little small but well equipped, clean and modern, maid service is fine.

It is true as some other people have reported that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere!

Though there is a bus stop right outside the hotel, and buses run every 15 mins or so, we went into Alcudia twice though we found it quicker to get the bus to C’an Picafort, only 5- 10 mins away, a lovely place with lots of bars, restaurants and shops, only costs a euro each way.

To be honest you don’t even need to leave the hotel it has loads of facilities the beach is a footstep away and there is loads for the kids to do.

My only moan is the noise from the night time entertainment as it is an outdoor stage, it is very loud, though come midnight its nice and quiet!

I have had my share of bad holidays believe me and Alcudia Pins is NOT one of them, we loved it and will be returning next year.

  5. Mr M CLARKE Says:

I’m not going to bore you with a long review just the facts I think you will appreciate before booking to stay at this resort, everyone’s opinion is different but I must give you mine before you book a holiday to this venue!

Three words = don’t do it!

After saving hard for our annual family holiday we were advised by a travel agent that Alcudia pins ticked all the boxes we were looking for from our holiday and was a fantastic place to stay, unfortunately she couldn’t have been more wrong… On approaching we were impressed with the venue, lovely entrance hall, clean and maintained gardens.

We found our accommodation to be very standard, the beds were hard and uncomfortable. The party next door to us were very noisy, night after night we complained but nothing was done about it, I understand that it’s their holiday, time to enjoy, but 4am screaming, shouting, arguing is not acceptable on a so called family friendly holiday.

We thought we were at a club 18-30’s hotel, our friends who had an apartment in the next block asked for the cleaners to come and remove a dirty condom they found when entering their rooms and was told to ‘remove it yourselves’.

Not to mention witnessing two bar staff arguing and nearly coming to blows with each other in front of my two children, they were really scared and upset; other staff were rude and did not have time for your questions or problems. It just seemed that they did not care at all for the guests.

The entertainment was awful; we could not cope with it so went out most nights to a nearby bar instead. The food in the restaurant was awful, cold, and just disgusting had to buy food from the supermarket to eat each day. My children were bored, not much for them to do, kids club was running most days but repeating the activities so soon got fed up with it. We sound like a really picky family but honestly we are not just expect to get what we paid for and come home pleased with the money we had spent.

The only positive thing I can say about Alcudia pins was the beach, lovely and clean really good for small children!

In all a terrible holiday we were relieved to touch ground back in England.

  6. Miss Lara Mason Says:

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 7 days in sept, i am 22 and my boyfriend is 24, this hotel is only meant for families. The weather wasnt that great, we went 1st sept and we had 2 days that were quite hot the rest of the time it was overcast and windy.

Staff- Arrogant and rude, they asked for my boyfriends passport on arrival and when we went to collect it at the end of our holiday they claimed they didnt have it, luckily they did find it in the end, with no apology.

Hotel Pool- Freezing cold, i only went in once or twice, the sea was actually warmer than the pool, we spent most of the time on the beach and swimming in the sea.

Beaches- Gorgeous beach at front of hotel

Night time entertainment- Worst ive ever seen, no entertainment for adults.

    Rooms- No complaints.

Forget going for a stroll down to the town because it would take a couple of hours, you would need to drive if you have a car or get a taxi. There is plently of resturants in alcudia town, me and my boyfriend are quite fussy eaters but there was a KFC, and Pizza hut, also a hagen dahz cafe! There was absolutely no bars or nightlife. Restaurants at hotel are nice.
There is absolutely nothing to do in the evenings whatsoever, we were bored of looking round the shops by the end of the holiday. There is a water park nearby.
I wouldnt go back here again!

  7. Mr R Says:

Just come back went 21/8/07 for 1 week. Myself, husband children aged 7and 2.

1 bed apart small for family of 4 had to put up sofa bed every night for us to sleep on paid quite high price to go there and expected hotel accommodation. View from room poor asked for pool view not got.

Too many rooms for them to cope with complex very big, no personal touch you just a room number. Not enough sun loungers around pool people up and by pool at 7.30am to reserve beds even though you not suppose to.

Restaurant food quality poor not very appetizing and not much choice for children they don’t want to eat chips every night. No change in variety for desert the same every night.

Bike hire available but be careful as kid’s race around walk ways and on footpaths where you walk and run into you.

Wasn’t very impressed with Airtours operators reps. Had to wait at airport sitting on coach while someone who had picked up the wrong bag went back and had to wait for their bag this took an hour and 10 mins rep was happy to wait for these people 4 of them, this being the persons error.

Everyone on the coach and the coach was full was unhappy and said rep should have made decision to go and others come along later in taxi. Then had the transfer to Alcudia then all the hotels spent 2 and half hours on coach.

Rep didn’t even check us in got off 2 hotels before us and said to check ourselves in. When we asked about our pick up time from the hotel for our return home they had no idea and said something should be up on board later in day.

Rep went to sleep on our transfer to airport.

Entertainment good and good for kid’s beach great. Alcudia is great we stayed couple times before in Alcudia at different hotel and loved the town and surrounding area.

This hotel a bit out from there too far to walk but not far in taxi which taxi rank just by hotel so no problem. Cost about 8 Euros.

  8. Miss M Hunt Says:

DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT GOING TO THIS HOTEL!
I WENT A FEW YEARS AGO AND HAD THE WORST TIME!
I MUST ADMIT YES THE POOL LOOKS IMPRESSIVE!

BUT WHEN MY YOUNG DAUGHTER GOT POISENED BY THE POOL, THAT WASNT IMPRESSIVE!
SHE LOST 3 STONE IN A MATTER OF 5 DAYS, THROWING UP!
MANY CHILDREN HAD COME DOWN WITH THIS BUT THE ONSITE DOCTOR HAD TOLD US ALL ‘ITS TONSILLITUS’ YEH!
TONSILLITUS DOESNT MAKE YOU THROW UP BLOOD !
SHE NEARLY ENDED UP IN HOSPITAL, EVEN THOUGH WE JUST WANTED TO LEAVE!
SO WE ORDERED TO SEE A HOSPITAL DOCTOR!
HE WARNED US IF SHE DIDNT STOP BEING SICK SHE HAD TO GO INTO HOSPITAL!
    SOOO!

    BE WARNED

  9. Miss Jb Burnes Says:

I think this hotel is great but with some disappointments.

Good things I liked: pool was class, the beach was on the facility, nice walks, friendly staff, great big balcony.

However, things I wasn’t too impressed with are: the cleaner hardly ever made the beds, the kitchen worktop was like an ant farm, the facility was miles from the centre, the restaurants on the same street were stinking! (my mum and dad ordered a steak, there was blood pumpin from them! and yes they were asked to be well done, and it didnt help with the 2000 flies surrounding us either!), the games room stole money, the pool tables didnt have all the balls either.

Alot of british holidayed there, and sorry to the british reading this but I was not pleased by there ignorance. I for one wont be going back next summer.

  10. Mrs J Boswell Says:

A very nice hotel well positioned right on the beach and in a very child friendly area, the rooms are nice although a little small for a family of 4 but nice and clean, the towels were changed every other day.

The pool was super the kids loved the slide and the little ones could paddle and be watched from the sun beds.

The entertainment could have been a bit better but overall a very enjoyable holiday, would definitely go back again.

  11. Mr M Devlin Says:

Night time entertainment from the (so called) entertainment team was shockingly bad. Suitable for under 7’s maybe but certainly not for anyone any older.
It just looked and sounded like a few teenagers had got together on stage and made something up for the evening.

But having said that, Rod Stewart, Robbie Williams, Take That, Il Divo and the Temptations were very good indeed. Go out for the evening when the entertainment team is on.

Bars and shops know how to charge, very expensive. Not much to do outside the hotel within walking distance.
Beach location very good. Pool, although pleasant very cramped and very shady in many places.

Plenty of Mozzies so take plenty of sprays and lotions and watch out for the jelly fish in the sea (ouch)

Staff friendly enough but Air tours Reps non existent. We only ever saw a Rep at the Airport. 2nd visit, after a 4 year gap. How the entertainment has gone down and the cost has gone up.
Would not recommend it to family and friends, but have had worse.

Would definitely not return here again.

  12. Miss L Jones Says:

After reading the previous reviews on here, I was very worried to say the least about staying at the Alcudia Pins. On arrival, we were greeted at the Reception by friendly staff, the apartment was fantastic. The views were spectacular!!

The whole place was very clean and the staff was great. We reported a fault with our patio doors and they came within 15 minutes to fix them.
We were facing the entertainment stage but this was not a problem at all because at midnight the shows stop and you are encouraged to go to the residents bar.

The beach was lovely and very clean. The onsite restaurants seems reasonable, we only used the Bugger Place once. We did use the buffet Breakfast facility once and there was plenty of choice.

There are quite a few restaurants to choose from just down the road which other mainly the same type of menus, although Portobello’s (Italian place, furthest away) was lovely. The food was superb!

The only negative points were that the entertainment wasn’t great (except for Southside, who were amazing!), a little too cheesy for us but the children love it. The Supermarket was a little pricey but there are plenty of other Markets close by to choose from.

We never went in to the pool because the sun beds were packed together like sardines but it didn’t matter because you have the beach at the end of the complex.

Overall, it is a great family place to stay with clean surroundings. We are booking again for next year!

  13. A Edwards Says:

On first sight everything is great at this resort. The pool is big and clean (and very cold), and the hotel faces onto a lovely wide white sand beach.

We stayed half board, please be aware that you must buy all drinks (including water) at each evening meal - which even if you only have water each night certainly adds up over a fortnight. The food itself was good, with regular themed evenings and they promise to repeat in a fortnight.

There is a regular bus stop just outside of the resort - taking you to the main town if you prefer a little more shopping and/or nightlife.

The rooms are small but cleaned every other day. There is no extraction system in the bathroom - families of four will know that this is not ideal when sharing a confined space.

The clientele is mixed, with Dutch Germans and Swedes, most of whom were thoroughly nice. Unfortunately there were also the British - we were situated near to the burger bar and were amazed to hear small children being allowed to run around screaming until well after midnight - and always the British!

This is basically a quiet resort, we recognized this when we booked but you should be aware that there is little to do in the evenings other than the often amateurish entertainers and which ever room you have you will hear the evening.

  14. Mr D Matthews Says:

Just come back from a family holiday with 2 Children (7 + 5) and had a fantastic time. The hotel was very clean, with the room cleaned and towels changed every other day. The pool and pool area was very clean (water samples taken daily) and the hotel is literally on the beach which is absolutely fantastic.

The night entertainment can sometimes be good and other times not so good, but the children thoroughly enjoyed them and the hotel entertainers worked very hard.

The only downside is the noise from the entertainment which will keep your kids up until it has finished - Avoid Hotel Block C as this is right next to the stage.

Hotel food is not bad but there are plenty of local restaurants within 5 minutes that do good food (your kids though will end up looking like Chicken Nuggets!)

Would definitely go back again - A very good, clean family orientated hotel.

  15. Miss C Evans Says:

If you are thinking of booking what should be a fantastic holiday with children please re-think before you book here at Alcudia pins apartments my family and I booked to stay there in February 07.

When we arrived there last week with an excited 7 yr old and a 9month baby we was turned away saying that we have been double booked and we weren’t even staying in Alcudia at all.

The staff were useless didn’t care and weren’t very helpful and the my travel rep was absolutely rubbish, she didn’t care and her attitude was disgusting as most of them reps. This just didn’t happen to us it happened to allot of families the same day and the next day even the week before a family told us it happened to them at Alcudia pins apartments.

I know that some people who stay there have a wonderful time that as maybe but people should know what this hotel and Thomas Cook do to people with out a care in the world as long as they have there money there not interested, I mean tell me please how you can double book a room when we booked it in February? They didn’t have any answers.

In the end we did have a lovely holiday thanks to one of Thomas Cooks managers called Lee Coyle, he got us back to Alcudia and we stayed at a wonderful hotel called Ibrostar.

Please if your booking to stay here make sure your not collecting your tickets at the airport and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone as my family and allot more families last week went through it and it is not nice, I hope you all have a lovely holiday in the end like we did.

  16. Ms C Clifford Says:

I travelled to Majorca on 23/7 this year, having booked back in January my expectations were high! What a mistake…

On arrival I was given key to room and directed to the block we were in, on arrival in said room I quickly realised it wasn’t the 2 bed apart I had booked but a VERY small 1 bed apart and not particularly clean either.

On returning to the desk I questioned the room, but no, the quickly disappearing staff denied all knowledge of a 2 bed apart, and even breakfast was dismissed as my error.
The tel no: shown on the rep’s desk was dialled to be met with a Spanish answer phone.

After many phone calls by myself & partner we finally got hold of TC at Palma and the Rep’s Manager was on her way. It transpired TC knew about the over-booking (a quaint custom from the past I thought) at 10.00 am that morning before we had left England!

But no-one from TC at Palma (or the hotel management who were conspicuous by their absence) had the courtesy to tell us, did they think we wouldn’t notice? It also became clear we were 1 of 3 families to be in this situation (our crime being there was only 4 in our parties)

On arrival at our room the Rep’s manager could do nothing she admitted, but offer us compensation, which we duly got told how much was on offer and advised if we decided to complain back in the UK we probably would get less!

After days of calls backward and forward we finally got our compensation in Euro’s on the Thursday (we requested English pounds)

The whole point of my 2 bed apart booking was that I had two step-children of 13 & 11 one of each sex, and knowing how SMALL holiday aparts are I wanted a bit more room and privacy.

The 1 bed apart was Small to say the least, the bedroom had badly fitted sliding doors, with approx 1 foot around the bed to shuffle about and get dressed etc: the overall appearance of the apartment was shabby, the bathroom was adequate and toilet paper seem to be on ration (we hid ours to get the maid to give us more).

The sheets stayed with us all week and were just tidied 3 times during our stay!. The air conditioning was useless and it was cooler with the doors open, but of course you then got bitten to death.

The lifts were not reliable so I gave up with them and climbed the 3 flights of stairs every day.

It’s a good job the weather was glorious or I personally would have turned round and gone back to the airport that afternoon. The Beach is fantastic there as is the pool for the kids.

The entertainment team are very enthusiastic and the kids club seemed to be enjoying themselves.

The Self service restaurant at breakfast was so very busy and the kids just about found themselves something to eat (pancakes are brilliant) but the evening meals left a lot to be desired and were aimed as usual at Dutch & German tastes. We only ate there once that was enough, there is a very limited choice close by, although’ Can Picafort is only a short taxi ride away.

The pizza restaurant on site is it’s saving grace the food there was lovely.

This was my 2nd visit to Alcudia in 5 yrs and I would go again for the fantastic clean safe beaches, but as for the Alcudia pins avoid it like the plague. I think the photo’s of the apartments interior must have been taken several years ago.

  17. Mrs T Kellie Says:

Alcudia Pins, where will I start, booked a two bed room apartment to be told when we arrived on the Friday night we were being put into a one bedroom as the hotel was full and that was that basically, myself, husband and two teenage boys all cramped into a shoe box, and I mean a shoe box. Heard throughout the holiday this had happened a lot so be careful as if you book a family room or two bedroom apartment you will arrive and this will not be the case. as compensation we were given half board basis and I must say the food was excellent and to be fair we were never in the apartment. It is a bit out of the way and we spent a lot on taxi fares going to the Port and into the New Town as you could never get on a bus. Entertainment was good for the younger kids lots of it, beach right on the door step which was a big bonus. All in all it was a good holiday if only I got what I booked a two bedroom as my sons are 13 and 15 and there is basically no room whatsoever in the one bedroom apartment, it is more like a studio.

  18. Mr M King Says:

Two adults and two children (one aged 3 years and the other aged 10 months) travelled to the Alcudia Pins, therefore read this is you want a true accurate perspective then please read on, but this is rather a lengthy report!

The Hotel is very clean and well organised, staff are lovely, the location is a little out of the way, but there are a few eating establishments nearby.

The beach is lovely and right on your doorstep….. however don’t let all that fool you into thinking you are about to have the best holiday yet!

Firstly the rooms are rather small and we arrived to find the babies cot in the kitchen area, and not in the main bedroom! Not an ideal sleeping arrangement. We had to hire a highchair from the hotel for 15 Euros (10 deposit) otherwise the baby would have had to sit on our knee to eat (nightmare). 8.00pm came around and the hotel changed into something for a butlins camp…. only with a double compare that spoke to the very many German’s that were there.

Ah ah yes there are a lot, we found that this resort was mostly German. Then came the live acts and music….. until about 12.30am every night, this is outside therefore there was no getting away from the constant noise, and screaming children.

Having two very young children meant they needed to go to bed at 10pm, and this never happened resulting in both of them, along with the rest of the children there, being rather tired and tearful. The walls of the rooms are paper thin and you hear every chair, door, and conversation from the rooms to the side, above, below and down the corridor. If this is want you want then yes give it a go but we found it far too much!!

As for the operator Airtours, we will not be travelling with them again, we booked a sea view, no sea view. We needed a car seat on the return taxi back home to Palma airport, no car seat, obviously if anything would have happened - doesn’t bare thinking about. Which resulted in a forty minute taxi drive from hell as our baby wouldn’t sit still and wanted to be passed from mum to dad all the way!

We did however ask a rep the day before travelling to confirm the car seat and he said that wouldn’t be a problem.

So to summarise… through the day was fab, loads for the kids to do, play area, fab pool, cars and rides close by. But the night time was a ‘nightmare’ !!!! We are glad to be home, for the sleep if nothing else!

  19. Mrs K Hassall Says:

Had brilliant time in Alcudia pins, need to get up early to put towels on sun beds if you don’t sit with them they get taken off. The entertainment team were funny, never heard bingo done in 5 different languages.

Well done to rusty for singing live the others mimed but the shows were good. Hotel was clean, food was good.

The beach was lovely, right on your doorstep. The hotel maids were lovely and friendly.

If you have the chance to go to marine land and the aqua park, they were brilliant days out!
    Hopefully going back next year.

  20. Mr S B Says:

We are 2 adults and 2 children 1 aged 4 and 1 nine.

The room was ok but needs updating.

Cleaning was bad and they do not clean under the beds. We arrived and found under wear still in the wardrobe!

Restaurant was over crowded and rubbish food with people waiting for fried eggs for breakfast!! Not good. Show cooking. Rubbish a fried pork chop!?

Pool was clean but over crowded as there is bed next to bed Ok if you are a sardine.
They will take your towels away if you get up early and then go away.

Please if you are a 4 star person do not go but if you are more a 2 star person it will be ok? But the children’s entertainers are really rubbish and the adult entertainment is even worse sorry to say.

  21. Mrs C Mitchell Says:

What a fantastic place for children. Two adults and children 2 & 4. We have just returned today after 2 weeks in children’s paradise.

The beach is out of this world. Perfect for children.

Having read the reviews I wasn’t too sure if it would be rather too busy and rough.
It was very busy however it was fantastic. The people staying at the hotel are from various countries Austria Netherlands & French good mixture of nationalities. No rowdy English.

The pool if you want a sun bed you must stay with your towel other wise they are removed.

The little super market has all you could want. Same prices as the UK.
Its a little resort on its own every thing you could possibly require, the staff are perfect Bedding and towels every day if you wish.

The various restaurants really nice within the Hotel and within the locality.

I would say this Hotel has the best location, Muro hotels are the best in Alcudia bay.

Hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did.

  22. John Cork Ireland Says:

Just back from the Alcudia pins, 2 weeks, family of 5, 2 adults, and 3 children aged from 3 to 12.

Accommodation was supposed to be 2 bed roomed apartment but we received a 1 bed roomed, however our room location was the best block c room 204. We complained and were offered half board which we took because of the location of the apartment right on the beach perfect.

Accommodation, very basic and rooms very small…tiny! Basic fixtures and fittings, air conditioning basic and made the room comfortable.

Facilities: pools: very good large enough to hold the large amount of residents at the complex, however better supervision and more life guards needed (poor attitude to their work too!) If you’re bringing young kids you will need to monitor like a hawk.

Sun loungers/sun beds! Well if you want your bed you must be at the pool by 7.45am. After 8am forget it, you will be off to the beach for the day, management do send someone around from about 8.10am to 8.30am to take off towels, but that is very hit and miss and not consistent, but once you have your sun bed you will have a great time.

Beach: if your unlucky not to get a sun bed then don’t worry a short 20 meter walk and you’re on the beach, great beach soft sand, excellent strand and water very clear and warm, plenty of beach activities from bucket and spade to parachutes the entire range is on your door step including the boat trips etc.

Retail: a number of shops are located around the complex, mini supermarket: has the range you will need to have the provisions in, (I had seen many comments about the prices… Really you are talking about a few cents in the difference for items and when one considers you have to get a bus to the larger supermarket and walk in the heat! Well a few cents is well worth paying for the convenience) fresh bread and fresh milk plenty: newspaper/novelty store: has a good range of Irish and English broad sheets and tabloids good opens at 8am)

Mini kiosks: ice creams and cold drinks… This is the expensive one… Buyer beware… Huge difference in prices from these kiosks than the mini supermarket.

Restaurants: 4 on the complex: pins burger bar (fast food)… Well fast food it’s not! Q times very long not well staffed but the offer is what one is used too from McDonalds/burger king, located on the beach front and next to kids play area, good for lunch times. Italian and pizza restaurant, located on the other side of the complex again on the beach front, basic menu but good food… Pizza base a little soft though!

Beer garden restaurant: located at the entrance to the complex, this is a good place to eat however the menu is not the best with variety but food good.

Buffet restaurant: plenty of everything and surely will meet everyone’s tastes, good offer.

Bars: beer garden: free bouncy castle for the kids at night time nice place to relax.
St Patricks Irish bar: as far removed from an Irish bar than one can explain, service very poor, no ambiance, no aesthetics…. Quite bad…. Karaoke every night at 11.15 to 1am… If you’re in a group then maybe a good night, but they really could do more with this to encourage a good social night.

Terrace bar: great. The best however during peak times (see entertainment) be prepared to wait a long time for your drinks, and if you get table service waiting up to 15mins is the norm, can be longer… But on the whole this bar is the best.

Hotel bar: for the soccer matches or if you’re looking for a quiet corner then this will suit your needs.

Alcudia pins staff: reception, cleaners, porters, maintenance, and management are all excellent and really can deliver 100% customer satisfaction, customer care really stands out here, and the customer is king. They (to us anyway) treated all requests and dealt with any issue in a professional manner and go out of their way to ensure you have a relaxing holiday.

Tour reps: all operators seem to share the one team, well unless your booking tickets for pirates or other shows the must be the worse team of reps we (and from speaking with others) have ever encountered… To say poor attitude would be giving them a compliment…. If one had a serious issue then I would suggest deal with the hotels staff at reception for everything … You will at least get service.

Entertainment staff: without hesitation I can say that this group of people are the hardest workers we have ever seen and they give the best entertainment, in most cases to the kids but beware the target adults too, they really are great and ensure that everyone has a smile… Their ethos must be exceeding customer’s expectations.

Entertainment: karaoke bar as mentioned poor lacks atmosphere, terrace bar: the hotels entertainers have the mini disco at night, then money bingo woo! And the show of the evening; this can be a show from your very own entertainment team or can be guests: tributes to temptations vg, Robbie Williams excellent, Chinese acrobats amazing, tribute to el divo very good, blues brother good, take that excellent, rob Stewart excellent.

And to finish off the night, we have the club dance, cartoon heroes (you will be singing this song and doing the moves after day 2, very good, kids love it.).

Port of Alcudia, Alcudia old town and the Alcudia commercial area, you will need to get a bus to these areas, be warned the fill these buses like sardines in a tin… (bus stops going and returning located just outside the hotel, there is a taxi rank there too) buses stops running after 10pm , then you have to get taxi, taxi ranks are like major cities at Christmas, be prepared to wait upto 2hours (yes.. Esp. at the port area).

So here is a tip… Go into a bar/restaurant, have a drink, and order a taxi from them, why? Well taxis must respond to calls from hotels, bars, restaurants before they will attempt to go to the rank…. This is official. (they will not respond to calls from taxi ranks) and the will not pick up off the street (even if the light is green) 250 meters either side of the taxi rank…

Overall, a holiday is a time to relax, have fun, chill out and enjoy yourselves. Well Alcudia pins resort have all the ingredients for you to have it, all one needs is to have a positive attitude and you will enjoy it.

It’s a large complex so that means its attracts a huge mix of people and of course kids, once you accept that (and surely if you have children you must) then you will have the holiday you want at Alcudia pins.

  23. Miss LI Harley Says:

We just come back from a week’s stay at Alcudia Pins 21/7/07 2 Adults 2 children age 9 and 3. Well what can I say?

We all loved it apartments clean and equipped with all you need pool clean every night but always busy! Beach gorgeous again cleaned every night. E

ntertainment every night, also Bingo. Tributes to El Divo ,Take That, Disney, Blues Brother’s. Some nights were better than others. Kid’s club, pony riding, Lots of water sports. Weather was well up in the late 30’s so nice and hot we didn’t have a problem with mosquitoes no bites.

Kids loved it play park pool tables go kart’s to hire bouncy castle every evening from 7 witch was great. Food good lots of places to eat. The Italian was really nice. 1hr 30 mins transfer from airport but worth it!! Would recommend to anyone with a family not so good just for couples as there are a lot of kids.

Trust me I was a bit iffy when I read some bad reviews but when we got there we were very surprised it’s lovely.

    Have fun at Alcudia Pins!

  24. Miss C Harper Says:

Very large complex but in a beautiful location right on the beach which is a good job as the pool is so busy its hard to keep your eyes on your kids. And you are lucky if you manage to get a bed.

We stayed half board which was average the kids didn’t eat much for our stay however it is difficult to accommodate all nationalities; there are plenty of German visitors there.

Our room was a 2 bedroom and was fabulous there was lots of room and they were cleaned ever other day.

The evening entertainment was not much to rave about it did let it down a lot really but there is a bus stop by the hotel to jump onto to the port or to the next town as there isn’t much around there to see, but overall was an average holiday I would defiantly say this is a 3 star not as listed with some companies as a 4.

  25. Mr Dave Brady Says:

Just returned back from a fantastic 7 day stay at the Alcudia Pins, Majorca. Can honestly say after reading some of the reviews on here, I was a bit apprehensive and a bit worried in taking our only annual holiday here.

We were very pleasantly surprised in how clean and well organised the place was, all the staff were friendly and helpful, they all spoke very good English.

The rooms were a bit on the snug side but very well presented. The hotel I thought was in a very good location, not in the main heart of Alcudia which is a very short taxi journey away but there is plenty to do on site with plenty of nice restaurants nearby.

We took our 19 month old little boy who absolutely loved it, the pool was very good, and the complex is right on the beach, so very handy.

I think the only ‘moan’ I would have about the place would be that the entertainment on the night is quite poor, everything is repeated in about 4 languages so you tend to lose track of what’s happening!

Overall a good holiday, looking forward to going back next year.

  26. Mrs D M Fellows Says:

We have just returned from our 7th holiday at Alcudia Pins and, as ever, it was fantastic!! We holiday at other places too but this is our favourite.

It is a large busy place but is spotlessly clean both inside and out. The pool area is lovely and this year for the first time they do not allow people to put towels on sun loungers & reserve them. This meant bad news for the Germans but it was great for us Brits as we could get a bed anytime up to noon.

The hotel is set on the best beach (in my opinion) outside of the Caribbean and it is a lovely stroll along it to the next resort Ca’an Picafort for an afternoon cocktail.

All the staff are friendly and helpful-they can’t do enough for you. We asked for more pillows and they arrived within 10 minutes.

We have an 11 year old son who is severely autistic and this hotel is very child/autism friendly but if I had no children I wouldn’t choose it.
Outside the hotel every night a lovely guy named Juan does pony rides for children for just 4 euros. The ponies are extremely well cared for & sound I cannot recommend them too highly.

The evening entertainment in the hotel is a bit cheesy but is lively enough and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. At midnight everything closes down and you do get a good night sleep guaranteed. I’ve read some of the awful reviews on here & really don’t know where they are coming from.

I urge you to ignore them & give Alcudia Pins a try (if you can get in). Happy Holiday!

  27. Mrs D M Fellows Says:

We have just come back from Alcudia Pins for the 7th time. We do go to other places as well but Alcudia Pins is our favourite & we’ve never had a bad holiday there.

This year we booked direct on the hotel’s own website for the first time & saved £700 on the tour operator’s price.

The accommodation is large and busy but is well maintained and spotless (except for the pool loos which left a bit to be desired). The few requests we had were responded to instantly i.e. we asked for more pillows and towels.

The hotel is situated a short bus or taxi ride from the stunning Alcudia Port but there are a few bars & restaurants just outside the hotel. Pins Mates is the best local restaurant-the best food & value by far but the service a tad relaxed.

Alcudia Town is in between Alcudia Pins and the Port of Alcudia but we find it a bit tacky & have so much to do that we don’t waste time going there.

The hotel is situated on the most stunning beach outside the Caribbean and it is a nice walk on the beach to C’an Picafort the next resort. Puerto Pollensa which is a short taxi/ bus ride away & makes for a more sophisticated evening out.

The hotel entertainment is a bit ‘cheap and cheerful’ but is lively and varied. Everything switches off at midnight so you do get a good night’s sleep.

Our 11 year old son is severely autistic & everything at Alcudia Pins is family/kiddie friendly.

Just outside the hotel each evening a lovely couple Juan & Christina do pony rides for children. The ponies are very well cared for and it’s only 4 Euros for a ride. If you see them please say ‘hi’ from Diane Paul & Oliver cos they remember us every year .Bless.

We hope you choose Alcudia Pins for your holiday and we hope you love it as much as we do. Happy Holiday!!

Diane, Paul & Oliver Fellows, Silkstone Common, South Yorkshire.

  28. Mrs L Hughes Says:

Just come back from a weeks holiday to the Alcudia Pins as a family of 5 with 3 children aged 5,12 and 15 on a self catering basis - fantastic time had by all. Can’t believe the awful reviews I’ve read as our holiday was fantastic from start to finish - can’t wait to book again for next year. Weather was absolutely gorgeous all week.

Children well catered for with entertainment round the pool which included various games to win cocktails and water polo which both my eldest kids took part in. Pool fantastic and shallow throughout so that my 13 year old who isn’t too keen on swimming out of her depth could participate in the water polo without a second thought. Hotel run kids club for the little ones, twice daily at 10am and 3pm - he went to one session for first couple of days but was having so much fun in the pool that he forgot all about it for the next 5 days. Kiddies pool next to the jacuzzi really warm by mid afternoon - like having a warm bath - lovely. Also husband and girls enjoyed the beach volleyball, beach on doorstep so if too hot by pool you could just stroll onto the beach.

Had two bedroomed apartment which was spacious, modern and very clean. Towels changed daily and bedding was changed twice in seven days. Television with British channels and Cbeebies for my 5 year old which was great to keep him entertained and out of the mid-day sun for an hour or so. Stayed in Majorca Block B which was back from the swimming pool even though I requested a pool view but this wasn’t granted as most other people had paid for a pool view. This didn’t bother me as where we were was quiet and more relaxing. Also requested a ground floor apartment which we got as I wasn’t too keen on having to watch our little one constantly in case he started climbing over the balcony, but was quite noisy as ceilings seemed to be very thin and you could hear a lot of coming and going and moving about.

Evening entertainment quite good - Rod Stewart tribute was fantastic - couldn’t believe it wasn’t Rod himself on stage. Kids mini disco ok followed by bingo and then act. Kids bouncy council within easy sight of stage area for which you paid 2 euros and little one could be on it all night if he wanted to! Eldest two spent some time each night in the computer room opposite Block B talking to their friends at home - 1 euro for 10 minutes. Later on in the week they found another place, out of the main doors, past bikes and turn left (called Games Room) where they could get 15 mins for 1 euro. Two table tennis tables for the more energetic and tennis courts - we took our own rackets so instead of having to book at reception and hiring rackets we could just go along when there was nobody on the courts.

Husband enjoyed happy hour between 4 and 5pm in Fanny’s Beach bar, adjacent hotel where he could relax while looking out to sea every afternoon. We had food there one evening - not fantastic in any way but sufficient - lovely omelettes but give the jacket potato a miss.

Pizzeria quite good value - kids lived on these most afternoons. Supermarket outside hotel front door good value with delicious home-made cakes right at the back - not like anything we tasted at home and much cheaper too - lovely with a cup of coffee sat on balcony late afternoon.

Didn’t go on any excursions as kids were so happy around the pool - very expensive to book through reps in any case. Didn’t see much of the reps but reasonably helpful when we did see them.

    Hotel staff very friendly.

For a nice meal and nice shops go into Alcudia itself and get dropped off by Pizza Hut next to taxi rank. Had the most wonderful kebab on (skewer) - absolutely massive and there was a little playground to keep kids amused while waiting for food. Can’t remember the name of the place but as you come off taxi just before rank - go to the left at crossroads and carry on down to about 4th restaurant on right land side of road with an out-door stage and kiddies play area - well worth the trip to Aldudia to eat here and look for the kebabs on menu - super. Very busy here but that’s why we chose it as lots of other places were empty which wasn’t a good sign but food was served very quickly. Caught taxi from outside hotel to here as buses were always very crowded.

Well I could go on and on but I think I’ve covered the main points - haven’t been abroad for six year previous to this but I’m going in to my travel agent tomorrow to book the same holiday for next year - truly fantastic time!!!

  29. Mrs Jane Ryan Says:

Myself, husband and 7 year old daughter have just had the holiday of our life at the pins! What utter rubbish has been written by other people, just can not find anything bad to say!

Our room was cleaned every other day clean bed linen and towels, the food was plentiful and of a good standard and allot of choice!
All the staff were very helpful and the entertainment team were fantastic!!! Our daughter was kept busy all day and had a great time with all the staff.

The pool was very clean and well looked after washed down every night and kept spotless. Sun beds were not allowed to be kept until after 9am which meant that you all had a fair chance of getting one!

Beach was lovely and the sea very clean and just a minute walk from the hotel what more could you want? We have booked to go back next year and just can’t wait! All I can say is it was not that expensive, it was very well run and the people that have written complaints must be the sort that just likes to moan!

Go and see for yourselves, the place is 10 out of 10 well done the pins!!!

  30. Mrs D Gallagher Says:

After having stayed here last September, we were very excited to be returning here.

The beach and staff were just as fantastic and this also makes a very good base for sightseeing around the island.

Again, the only complaint I would have is the noise created by the chavs at unsociable hours. Still, I suppose that having a pub at the top of the road which only really comes to life at 11.30pm, this is something to take account of.

Have been there a couple of times now so will probably go to another part of the island on the next visit.

  31. Miss V Swain Says:

Over all it was a good holiday! But was outside Alcudia itself and cost a fortune in taxis to get to main part of Alcudia because the buses were always full.

The hotel was clean and the food was ok but take lots of money you will need it!

The beach was beautiful and the sea was warmer than the swimming pool. Also you will be lucky to get a sun bed in the early part of the day but late afternoon there are plenty.

The maids were good and came twice in my week stay, the hotel staff were friendly if you gave them a tip if you didn’t tip them then they were bit rude! The rooms were very small but we were hardly in the room so we were not that bothered.

Biggest complaint would be one of the MyTravel reps not having a clue what he was doing, he always got my name wrong, and on one of the overpriced trips he fell asleep on the coach because he seemed hungover, not good customer service!

But after all my moans I did enjoy myself and would go back!

  32. Mr P Stone Says:

Please don’t listen to some of these reviews that are saying Alcudia Pins is anything other than a great hotel to stay in.

I travelled with my wife and two kids (3 + 7) we stayed for a week last year and returned for a fortnight this year, the kids absolutely loved it.

The pool is excellent, I read the reports on the bugs a few years ago and was a little concerned, but when we arrived we noticed a guy was taking samples at least every couple of hours which was most reassuring.

One thing I really like about this hotel is their sunbed policy, they walk around up to 9am and throw any unattended towels into a trolley which can be picked up at lost property (this really annoyed the people who like to reserve beds at 5am and lay in until midday or go to the beach and come back to their reserved bed in the afternoon).

The hotel is spotless and constantly being cleaned. The variety of food in the buffet is excellent, some nights I fancied at least 3 or 4 of the main courses and often sampled all of them.

The entertainment team worked flat out, but some of the shows were a little amateurish (maybe as it was early season).

The beach was cleaned every night by a tractor towing a sieve type trailer.

The only thing we found was the location was a little isolated from the main town of Alcudia. It may get a lot busier later in the season but in June it was just right.

  33. Mr R Gray Says:

Do not believe all you read about this hotel. Facilities are very good, room cleaned every other day and general standard was good.

If like us you book independently, be aware that you may not get what you have booked and paid for no matter how early you book. The hotel will not guarantee you get a double room or a room over looking the pool or sea even if you have specified this and paid the extra!
They will not offer a cash refund but may offer a half board upgrade if booked as self catering.

  34. Miss S Ennis Says:

BRILLIANT, my second time back and it was better than my first time!! Rooms and hotel were very clean.

St.Patricks bar was really fun and so was the karaoke.. (met my future husband there!)

    Love it!

  35. Miss Sl Ash Says:

Came back from alcudia pins on 22nd of May 07. We had a great time, why all the negatives? There is not allot around but it was fine for us it’s only a bus drive away.

The pins is a very big place ie, on site there is laundrette, a doctor, 2 shops, a supermarket, restaurants, beach bar, kids club, the pony rides are just out side the hotel.

The pool is lovely again very big it has a water slide. The beach is the best bit very clean only 4 and 5 star hotels around there and there is about 5 hotels around so its not that busy there is a few nice places to eat out we ate out every night.

The hotel is very clean there is everything you need there is a kettle, taster, microwave. Clean towels every other day. There is one thing I read that worries me a lady was looking after a friends daughter and asked reception for the key to her friends room as she left her blanket and was giving it no id or anything could have been anybody so next time I go I shall be aware of it. But all in all a very good holiday!

  36. Miss M Fletcher Says:

My family and I stayed at the Alcudia Pins Hotel, and all I can say is that we had a fantastic time.

The hotel’s complex it’s self was perfect it had everything you wanted or needed, right on the beach.

The activities during the day for children and adults was great, the evening entertainment was fantastic.

The entertainers kept you well entertained even worked long hours and so hard they where brill, the staff, cleaners, waiters, everyone worked so hard, they were so nice and pleasant too.

I would definitely would recommend this holiday complex to all anyone as a family.

My only disadvantage’s I have is that it’s a bit further out from Alcudia centre than expected but only a short bus ride away.

The prices on the complex for ice cream, drink, food, etc is a lot more expensive than buying from Alcudia centre, but possibly you should expect that with it being on a complex.

    I would definitely go again.

  37. Miss C Dunn Says:

I am shocked at some of the reviews that I have read on The Alcudia Pins Hotel!

My family and I visited 8 years ago, loved it, and returned this year and were not disappointed! We would all recommend the hotel to friends/family and plan to book again for next year!

I must add that the external entertainers (tributes to Robbie Williams and the Temptations) will have you transfixed! They are excellent; we could not believe that they were not at an additional price.

The only fault with The Pins is that the entertainment team is now organised by a Dutch firm, they often cater for daft European tastes as opposed to sophisticated Brit humour in the evening.

That aside, the pool was great for kids, food was varied, well-cooked and tasty, all products in supermarket were excellent value for money, location was fine, accommodation cleaned thoroughly and often, staff were always friendly and beach is a stone’s throw away from apartments! Great!

Oldest member of our group was over 60, with walking difficulties- they were well catered for at all times. The youngest member was 10- could not keep them out of the pool or stop them eating in the variety of restaurants!

Our party also consisted of adults and teenagers, all of whom cannot wait to return!

I would thoroughly recommend The Pins Hotel to anyone who likes the idea of Majorca.

    A few tips:
*Don’t waste your money on car hire/taxis because the bus (fast, safe & reliable) will cost no more than 7 Euros for 5 people to Alcudia Town or Ca’an Picafort (the next resort)
*If you plan to eat in the buffet (self-service) restaurant, pay for breakfast & evening meal in one go, you will save a few £’s per person!
*Do not put your towels down early morning to save beds before staff have hosed them down, unless you remain with the beds, your towels will be put in ‘lost property’!
*If you wish to view entertainment in the evening, get there early for good seats.

Happy holidays to anyone travelling to this hotel soon. I am not a chav, you do not need to be chav/scrubber to enjoy this hotel!

  38. Miss T M Dorricott Says:

Oh my god! I cannot believe the reviews some of the people have wrote about Alcudia Pins.

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from our 7 day break there and we had a wonderful time!

The whole place is just faultless. The pool is beautiful, the staff are so friendly and enthusiastic - the entertainers were brilliant with the kids. It is set right on the beach which is great.

The buffet restaurant served lovely food which you could eat as much of as you liked!

The room was clean and ideally sized for just the 2 of us. I honestly cannot fault this place and we would definitely go back.

I recommend this place to anybody - it suits all ages!!

  39. Mr N Eastwood Says:

I booked a week for myself and my 15 year old son, to work around exam times etc. This was my first package holiday, so got to airport at the allotted time, to find the longest queue I have ever seen, always get there earlier than they say. Leg room on MyTravel plane was painful.

Got off plane directed like cattle onto a coach which sat waiting for nearly an hour prior to leaving, finally set off and after not too long a transfer got to Alcudia Pins, checked in and got key to room/apartment.

Having travelled extensively all over the world, it came as a bit of a shock.

The lounge area had a wooden type sofa, which was supposedly to double as a bed, not that I would expect anyone to actually get a decent night’s sleep on it. The TV was placed so high on the wall, both my son and I had a crick in our necks from trying to watch it.

The apartments were surface clean, by this I mean, on first look you think, ok it’s not bad and the room is pretty clean, but then you look a bit closer and it doesn’t seem quite as good.

For example, mould and mildew in the bathroom, no ventilation or window, under the beds in the separate partition there was dust balls and dirt under the bed, the cutlery and crockery were dirty. The tea towel left, well let’s say I wouldn’t have used it to clean the floor.

The public areas in the hotel, did however seem to have people constantly cleaning, sweeping and trimming bushes etc, but it did all seem very superficial, not clean below the surface, just to make the place look nice.

However, the week was not expensive, it did exactly what it said, it wasn’t five star, but neither did we pay five star prices.

Overall it wasn’t bad, but I would not go back. For my son and I, it wasn’t exactly our cup of tea.

  40. Mr W Arrimy Says:

Avoid it like the plague. Maybe some qualities if you have children, absolutely rubbish if you are just a couple.

The entertainment is horrendous; we felt sorry for the entertainers. It was embarrassing to watch them.

Take plenty of cash as you will need it to hire a car and eat. You will need to hire a car so you can drive into the main town of Alcudia.

Better still, drive the 50km down to Palma Nova every day, far better and a damn site cheaper to eat there, with far more choice of things to do and places to eat.

Do not book an excursion, a complete rip off, far cheaper and dead easy to hire a car.

The food choice on the Hotel grounds is dire and forget about eating in the buffet restaurant. I wouldn’t feed their ‘food’ to my dogs.

The place is full of loud mouthed yobs, who scream and shout all through the day & night. The hotel does have a policy about this, an after 12 curfew….Never is it enforced.

My Wife and I have travelled the world, been to many places and I can honestly say this is THE WORST holiday we have ever had.

We booked up for 2 weeks but wished we were home by the 5th day.

Would I go again…I would sooner stick needles in my eyes, or live next door to some of the clientele that frequent this place.

All this negativity….lets list the nice things. The pool is OK; the hotel staff are usually polite. A haven for chavs.

  41. Miss J Lennox Says:

Overall a decent hotel, certainly not the 5 stars it was billed as though.

Checking in was a nightmare as 100+ guests all arrived at the same time and our room was not ready.

Room small, but adequate as there were only 2 adults (would have been very tight if 3 or 4 sharing). Fortunately there is a microwave in each room which is handy for storing food in as it keeps it away from the army of ants that seemed to patrol incessantly!

The room was however clean and was visited every other day by the cleaners.

The weather was atrocious (rained 6 days out of 7) and this apparently is common for April, although our tour operator never told us this. On site facilities were at best ok.

The pool looked good but was colder than the North Sea! Nice beach, but again unusable down to the weather.

The Pins is a long way from the town (reliable bus service fortunately) and as a result the onsite shops seemed happy to engage in profiteering.

Eating establishments on site were expensive and on the whole very poor, with the exception of the Italian restaurant “Portobello” where the food and service was excellent.

The coffee on the Island was superb, with the exception of the hotel bar, which provided hot slop! If you are planning on self-catering I would advise buying your food at one of the supermarkets in town, which will save you a lot of money.

On the money front there is a 15 Euro charge for your room safe, with a 5 Euro deposit (nice work if you can get it).

The lack of activity on site probably would not have mattered if the weather had been good, but as half of the Island had not opened up for the season, it was a matter of having to scratch around for something to do to fill the days and nights.

If you want to visit Alcudia I would advise finding a centrally located hotel, as the Pins was just too far off the beaten track.

  42. Mrs D Gallagher Says:

Having first been detained at a holiday/prison camp further down into the town for the first night, we were very pleasantly surprised with the Alcudia Pins. Ok, the rooms may well be a little on the snug side if there are more than 2 people and the kitchenette facilities could have been a bit more varied, but apart from that cannot fault the place (oh, apart from all the chavvy Brits in their football shirts and their rude children).

Being vegan we don’t expect to be catered for in too many establishments (and indeed found it rather difficult to get anything to eat across the whole of the island), but the Pins provided veggie burgers, pizzas (without cheese) and jacket potatoes which was fantastic if we didn’t feel like making our own supper! Found a really good supermarket just down the main road which provided lots of fresh fruit and veg too - Eroski(?)

The staff here were extremely friendly and helpful and rescued us from our previous predicament. The pool side was good, even though I was rather envious of the children being allowed to go down the slide! Again, this area was only spoiled by British children behaving badly and being asked to leave by the life guard.

The beach was amazing - absolutely wonderful going for a walk at 8am. Seeing the fish there was a bonus too, especially as they seemed to be far more intelligent than the people who were trying to reel them in from the pier. Evening walks along the beach were gorgeous too!

All in all a fantastic holiday and we certainly will be returning!

  43. Mrs J Booker Says:

Just spent two weeks at the Alcudia Pins and I have to say it was one of the best holidays yet. I can understand that this holiday wouldn’t suit everybody but for us (2 adults and 2 teenagers 16 & 13) we couldn’t fault it.

The room had a fantastic view of the whole bay which we paid £25 extra for and i can thoroughly recommend this.

The location was perfect being so close to the beach.

The entertainment staff were friendly and extremely hard working and they went out of their way to make sure everyone had a good time. There were daytime activities for all ages to participate in is they wanted to.

The evening entertainment was varied and very enjoyable. I can recommend this hotel for families with young children and families with teenagers.

  44. Mrs I Yoong-Henery Says:

Just got back from a 2 week hol at Alcudia Pins. Initial impression was good. Fantastic beach location, warm azure sea. Reception area beautiful. No Porters, hmmm. Lugged own luggage to Block A 4th floor, with my brood of 4 girls, aged 1,4,7,10. Luckily husband is strong! Stayed in A415, a 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen.

Bathroom stank like open sewers. Bed linen VERY dusty and smelled of mould. Children have asthma, so straight down to complain. Maid only speaks Spanish. Has no idea how to clean. We stripped the beds ourselves every other day to get clean linen. Swept the floor everyday ourselves. Maid not given ANY cleaning product to scrub toilet with, so we bought our own to make bathroom bearable to use.

Supermarket in complex charges a fortune. Spanish milk went off by day 2, nearly poisoned the baby, so we had to pay more than double for English branded milk.

Nightly entertainment taken over from Airtours this year. Used to be good I was told. Complained to the hotel manager. Refused to see me for 3 days and when he did, lied that I was the only one complaining. Spent £3600 on package and another £350 on optional tours, £1000 on food and I cooked most days! Not worth it and definitely not going back.

  45. Mr P Walker Says:

My Wife and I have just returned from the Pins with our two children aged 12 and 14.
Having read the reviews that some people have posted I wonder if there are two hotels of the same name. I found the place dirty, inadequate in every way and very over crowded, a sentiment shared by virtually everybody we met.

By the way, if you don’t have a tattoo you will feel out of place. In the two weeks we were there, we had our bedding changed once and that was after repeated complaints. Cleaning is a joke and the mosquitoes and flies are a real menace. On the last day we found cockroaches.

I had booked on-line directly with the hotel and booked flights independently so had the option to leave after just a couple of days.

I would have packed up and gone but the kids (who I might add thought the place was OK) had met friends and wanted to stay. My wife and I spent the rest of the holiday waiting for the two weeks to pass and sharing horror stories with the other parents. Don’t go… It’s a nightmare.

  46. Mrs C Simpson Says:

We have just spent two weeks at Alcudia Pins and what a great time we had.

I was a little unsure what to expect after reading some of the reviews, but I am glad to say it was a fantastic holiday, don’t believe everything you read.

We stayed in block B, the rooms are a little on the small side when fully occupied, 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 3, but you don’t really spend that much time in your room. The rooms are cleaned regularly and fresh towels every other day if not every day. Full range of cooking equipment. The food was lovely wide variety of choice.

Pool area is lovley, always a lifeguard on duty, my children loved the water slide, but beware of the German children pushing in. (They don’t know the meaning of the word queue.) If you leave your towels unattended before 9am then there are collected and put in the bar area so beware, but there are always plenty of sunbeds.

The beach is lovely, sea is warm, clear and shallow, you can even see the fish swimming round your feet. The beach is cleaned every night.

There is entertainment every night be it a singer, magican etc.

My children loved the kids club, with my three year old ready to go at 9am every morning and it didn’t start until 10am. She had a fantastic time even went twice somedays.

Nothing was too much trouble for the kids club reps, they organised a birthday cake etc for my three year old with only a day and a halfs notice.

There is plenty to do both for adults and children alike.

We had a lovely time and would return.

  47. radop1969 Says:

We have just come back from a 7 nights sc holiday it was great the kids loved it. We had a 1 bed apartment, there was plenty of room for all four of us.

The room had air con that went down to 22 but that was plenty cold enough at night time. We had a visit from the maids at least once a day for different things. My eldest went to Airtours children club which I had to pay 5 euros a session, he only went two 2 as he is 9 and spent 2 hours singing nursery rhymes so I do not advise you send yours there. But do recommend the hotel entertainers as they have one for children / teenagers/adults.

We also had a night flight and the hotel let us keep the room for an extra day for 40 euros fab. My kids have said it’s their best holiday yet, I hope this helps.

  48. Miss C Desmond Says:

This hotel is great for kids and its right next to the beach!

The entertainment was brill but I would definitely pop out of the hotel down the road, there are lots of bistros and bars there!

The swimming pool is ace and the slide but be careful.

It’s very clean and the room and very well kept! maid service is about 3 times a week and they do a so-so job.

I enjoyed this holiday thoroughly but this is most definitely a family resort, don’t come here for clubbing and drinking come with a family and the kids club is brill!

Have fun, oh and make sure you go a little further than the little shop to buy your presents as its very expensive there!

  49. Miss RAME Collett Says:

The Alcudia Pins is a fantastic place and the staff are so helpful!

It is hard to get a place by the pool but the beach more than makes up for it- although people do “reserve” the beds there too!

The entertainment is fantastic for kids and the restaurants around the resort are lovely.

I would definitely go back there again- we went as a family of 14 and lost 12 of our cases with MyTravel and the reception staff in the hotel were so helpful and we managed to get our bags back within 36 hours. Plus they gave us some money to go and buy clothes!

  50. Miss N M Wynne Says:

I went to Alcudia Pins with my mum dad and brother in July/August. It was fantastic I’m 17 and my brothers 14 we had an amazing time its really clean and friendly! The tribute bands/artists were fabulous especially the Rod Stewart tribute (Michael Dean) he was absolutely amazing!

There was always a lounger available not always next to the pool, got to be down there very early to get one by the pool, but its just as good around by the restaurant (my fave sun soaking spot), the entertainment at night was really good but sometimes I thought it was bit distasteful with sexual references when there are young children but it wasn’t to bad so nothing to really worry about.

I would definitely recommend it I loved it! If you want somewhere to eat go to the underground family pub tucked away on the side of the beach I bugged my mum and dad everyday so we could go there all the time the food is gorgeous and people are so welcoming!

I can’t wait to go again I’m staying at Alcudia pins again when I go with my boyfriend in may! Totally recommend it for all ages one of the best in Majorca that I have been to wouldn’t go to another now I’ve been there! 10/10 love it!

  51. Mrs R Hooper Says:

We stayed at this hotel during August (the busiest time) with our two children aged 10 and 8 and had a great time.

It wasn’t as packed as we expected it to be and were very impressed with how clean everything was. The rooms were quite small (you would need to be tidy), but cleaned most days with fresh towels provided and I even noticed that the pavements were mopped down on a regular basis! The food was excellent, varied and well cooked and the shops were fairly priced. Entertainment both day and night was very good without any pressure to join in.

The only problem that I did have were the amount of ignorant Germans there that lived up to their reputation! I would definitely say that you either need to be as pushy as them or very tolerant, or it would drive you mad.

We stayed in block G with a pool view and asked for a quiet room as i am a bad sleeper. I can honestly say that I haven’t slept so well in ages. Entertainment finishes at about 12 and apart from the odd late nighters passing by, it was exceptionally quiet.

Only reason not giving the full ten is the number of Germans.

  52. Mr P V Dwyer Says:

I cannot believe some of these comments so I felt I just had to write a review. I have just returned from 2 weeks 17/6 to 1/7 at Alcudia Pins Playa de Muro Mallorca. I can honestly say if you have young children do not miss this place!

    Positives:

Great Pool cleaned every night all areas hosed down sun beds and walkway’s. The beach is fantastic cleaned and raked every night the Sea was crystal clear and you could walk out for 70 metres and still only be up to your waist. My four children aged 8, 8, 10 and 14 where fascinated by the fish swimming around us in the sea. I have traveled extensively and believe me this is the safest family swimming I have ever found (what current? Previous reviewer must have been a poor swimmer).

The entertainment team are in a word fantastic, great for the little ones during the day and superb and professional during the night. Sports if you want, football, volleyball, Archery, target shooting, etc. No hassle from the team if you just want to relax. Fantastic choice of food on site great meaty burgers, roast chicken, salads, baked potatoes etc. Again the prices where fine.

Example 2 burgers with fresh salad, one plain, a double cheese and bacon burger, a large pork Bratwurst hot dog, Half a roast chicken and salad, a large baked Potato and salad, a large portion of Onion rings and 3 large portions of fries €31! That’s about £18.50 for freshly made piping hot food not some UK high street mush in a bun! The Pizza take away was equally delicious again freshly made and superb value.

The supermarket was well stocked with delicious fresh local cheap produce. If you insist on your Kingsmill and your Heinz Beans yes you will pay a little more, saddo you’re not in your local ASDA, take them with you if you are that tight.

The best entertainment was early in the morning when our German friends put out their towels at 06:30 or even earlier! The hotel has a policy of giving everybody a fair chance to get a sun bed after breakfast so a member of staff whizzes round the pool and collects all the towels and takes them down into the bar for later collection. The look on the early bird’s faces when they stood down at 09:00 expecting to find their bed waiting was hysterical.

Seriously though the staff are a dream, the take away food excellent and the on site BBQ bar. Drinks where more than reasonable £2 a pint of San Miguel £3 for a cocktail. The terrace bar waiters entertainment in their own right. Towels changed every 2 days, on a couple of days we where left insufficient towels for 6 of us which was corrected in less than 5 minutes with a quick phone call to reception.

Negatives: Mmmmm struggling okay so some of the decor in the public areas is looking a bit tired and I did go end of June it would be interesting to see the place end of July and how it coped with the extra volume of kids. However I will be going back definitely great value thoroughly recommended.

If you have kids this is for you if you are a young couple without kids forget it or an older couple looking for peace and quiet forget it.

  53. Mrs J Holgate Says:

We visited the Alcudia Pins in the last week in June, with two boys aged 10 and 7.

    The good points were:

    1. Superb location - fabulous beach, very safe for kids - 30 metres out and sea still at waist height. Clear water (very warm), with little or no seaweed most of the time.

    2. Nice big, warm pool - it seemed cold when you got in, but only because the air temperature was so hot.

    3. Food - good standard and plenty of choice - both for adults and kids.

    4. Hotel staff - very friendly and helpful (especially if you try and speak a little Spanish to them). Rooms cleaned every other day to a good standard. Even the cleaners were friendly.

    5. Great atmosphere around bars and entertainment - didn’t see anyone drinking to excess.

    Not so good points:

    1. Airtours Reps - One of them couldn’t manage a smile all week. OK on routine matters, but a couple of times gave inaccurate advice, e.g. when asked if OK to wear shorts in the restaurant in evening, rep advised husband wouldn’t be allowed in wearing shorts, but in fact 70% of people in restaurant were wearing shorts. Husband now owns a pair of new unwanted long trousers!

    2. Sun beds - had to be at the pool reasonably early to get a sun bed.

    3. Coach trip - when we got on the coach on the way to hotel, no seats together available, so 7 year old had to sit on his own for the first hour of the journey.

We booked a reasonably priced package holiday - and that’s what we got. We had a very enjoyable time and would be happy to return.

  54. Mrs E Bown Says:

Have just spent 2 weeks at the Alcudia Pins hotel, beautiful hotel very clean and deserves its 4 star rate, but was most disappointed to be put in rooms (2) both in block h, on the back road facing the side of the hotel next door, our view was the swill out and dust bins for that hotel. We sat on the balcony the first night and recorded the whole fiasco, all night and I mean all night there were staff swilling out big blue bins into some sort of a drain, shouting, the clattering of plates etc, cars up and down and in and out of the underground garage.

It was terrible, we were staying for 2 weeks, my daughter and husband and 5 children and me, we were so upset, the holiday cost my daughter 3,500 pounds and she was distraught, it took 2 days to get one room moved, at the cost of 150 euro but it was well worth it. Pool/sea view we used this room as a base for the day and some of the older children still slept in the other room we couldn’t change in block h.

The hotel is beautiful, we found it very clean, bedding changed every other day and towels, staff were lovely, except one of the hotels own children’s entertainers, she really upset my 3 year old granddaughter, beware that t hey are all foreign, from various parts of Europe, and the hotel was 90% German and they are really ignorant.

I wouldn’t recommend Brits to go to this hotel as they really did cater mainly for the German clientele. Which is a shame as the hotel is great. Food expensive, supermarket not to bad on price but staying that we spent 3,000 pounds. The hotel is also very much out of the way and taxis are expensive we needed 2 everywhere you go. Oh and a funny thing was the reserving of sun beds, we used to watch every morning of the balcony, new arrivals to the hotel swanning up with there towels at 7:45 am with the towels and then off to breakfast. Then right behind them came the pool man with his wheelie trolley, taking the towels of the sun beds and taking them to the inside bar for collection, well funny then watching another family come along to the beds and using them straight away to then see the original family come along arguing as to the removal of there towels, lesson learnt if you want a sun bed you’ve got to sit on it and stay with it, ha ha ha very funny. Especially watching the Germans.

Beach was beautiful and if you didn’t want to argue for a pool bed this was the only other option, 7 euro for a parasol and two beds not bad, except when the ignorant Germans struck yet again, they would come along, wed got front row beds so we could watch the kids paddling in the sea, and they would erect the biggest beach tent you have ever seen right in front of you, the bare face cheek, and they would look at you as they had every right, they were just cheap skates.

We found the souvenir shop very cheap, and the inflatables but the food was expensive and the Embat restaurant a joke, pizzeria was terrible, the boxes for the pizzas are a laugh, they show you the size of the box and you think oh yeah that’s big. Then you open it when you get back to your room and need bifocals to find the pizza we had to laugh. Bingo at night was annoying, dragged on a bit, mini disco great for the kids, adult fun time was a bit daft, but ok, then the entertainment was mixed some nights great, outside entertainment brought in, tribute bands 4 tops were great they had Robbie Williams and Rod Stewart, a hypnotist and Irish dancing then there own entertainment.

Airtours reps have been withdrawn from the hotel, its now MyTravel reps and nannies, but you don’t have them performing any entertainment, shame I always found them ok. All in all you would have to go to believe it. We going to the Bouganvilla in October and next year. Its a sun centre now. Got to be better and more British. Been here 3 times no, not coming again, shame really.

  55. Mr M Culver Says:

Went to Alcudia Pins for 1 week half board between 9th & 17th June 2006. 2 Adults and 2 children aged 3 and 13. Overall, very impressed with resort.

    Good Points :-

    1. Lovely location - views of mountains and sea.
    2. Clean, lovely sandy beaches
    3. Plenty of nearby shops/bars/restaurants to eat near resort.
    4. Air conditioning in rooms - although only work when door shut and room key in slot.
    5. Lovely food in self-service restaurant.
    6. Friendly English speaking staff
    7. Safety Deposit Box - 14 Euros for week
    8. Nearby C’an Picafort and Alcudia full of good shops/eating/bars and plenty of places to watch the footy!
    9. Local buses - every 15 mins from outside the resort. Cost usually 1 euro each way- kids free.
    10. Evening entertainment - good standard - Finding Nemo, Queen, Greece and other shows start at 10pm.
    11. Always an Airtours rep in reception area when needed.
    12. Good size clean pool with slide and kids areas.
    13. Very clean around the resort.

    Not so good points :-

    1. Rooms are quite small for family of 4 - one person has to sleep in pull out bed under the couch (although this does have legs to raise up)
    2. Maid service a bit hit and miss - we had to ask for new towels / toilet rolls whereas others in resort had their room cleaned etc every day. Also had to ask for the toilet to be repaired which it was the next day.
    3. Unable to have late check out so had to vacate room at 12pm although flight not till 2.30am. - Suggest you arrange before you depart - there is a locker room with showers etc which we used for the day which is ok to store cases.
    4. Get to pool early for sun beds although we found the beach better anyway as always a breeze cooling you off.
    5. Transfer from airport can be 2 hours or so if dropping off at other resorts (we had 8 stops). Reps say not normal but I think it is! Taxi recommended if you can afford it - approx 60 euros I think.

Would definitely return to the area in the future.

Hope this is of use to some of you.

  56. Mrs P Olley Says:

Myself, Hubby, a six year old and four year old have just got back, the restaurant was the downfall as it was a scrum to get seated and you were lucky if you could find a glass or knife and fork in fact two mornings we got some bread and had toast in the room as it was such a chore to fight over the toaster in the morning. In the evening it was pork, pork or pork, food was okay but the unorganised restaurant needed double the staff.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful, we were pleased with the room although if your kids are older I doubt they would be so impressed with the mattress on the floor but for our kids it was an adventure.

The pool was cold when you got in but it did the job and cooled you down, they welcome water guns and inflatables. Remember this is a family hotel and the kids are on holiday too!

Overall I was impressed I didn’t find it overly expensive in fact we came home with money in our pockets, a first for us.

I would recommend it if you go self catering with young children, but if neither of these applies to you then I would stay away.

  57. Mrs J Smithson Says:

Unfortunately for the Alcudia pins it is like the previous review, full of scratters. (85%) of the people there seem to go on there holiday to get drunk and leave their kids to their own devices. The rooms are really small, you can upgrade to a larger room at a cost of 270 euros. The air conditioning only works when your in your room and your card is in the slot, the staff aren’t very friendly, we arrived late at night and no one helped me with 3 kids and 6 cases up 2 flights of stairs, it is simply put a very basic package holiday, they thrive on the fact that they are about 1 1/2 km from the town, with the prices.

Kingsmill bread 5 euros 85, cravendale milk 2.50 for a pint, pampers nappies the smallest ones (you get them in Asda for 2.99) are 10 euros 85, breakfast of 2 cheese toasties a ham and cheese sandwich and tuna salad 4 drinks and 4 ice creams cost 35 euros - I kid you not, you have to pay for everything, the toys they sell in the shops (the same as you get in the pound shop are around 6 euros.

The beach is full of seaweed and appears really cloudy till mid afternoon, the pool is absolutely freezing, and I mean cold, all the kids had blue lips, you also struggle to get a bed on the pool side, the beds on the beach also cost 3 euros 50 per bed per day. The towels and bedding doesn’t get changed very often either,

The food is a mish mash and caters more to the rude Germans that seem to be overtaking.

The only really good thing was the Airtours reps at the kids club, the kids loved them. Also watch out for the park, someone’s going to get knocked out on the swings there one day soon.

I’m not a snob but I go on holiday to chill out and have a fun time with kids, not to be worried about who they’re mixing with and listening to people effing and blinding at there kids while they get drunk. I wouldn’t return here, if you go out and about it should be ok for a week, but it cost me 2 and half grand and because of the extortionate price of everything I spent 1600 quid in 2 weeks, and have nothing to show for it, so for that kind of money I would rather be in the Caribbean all inclusive.

Beware package holiday hell in rabbit cages, Brits are here don’t need to have manners with them, get ‘em in and get ‘em out. That seems to be the attitude.

P.s. there is a dodgy sewage smell sometimes on a night too, but there’s a chemical plant across the bay near the port we found out perhaps that where it comes from, (perhaps that’s why the sea is cloudy till mid afternoon too).

  58. Mr P Crossdale Says:

Fantastic location, right on the beach. This resort looks very appealing from the outside and has a great shaped pool with the apartments overlooking this pool.

Room was very clean and had a nice view over the balcony over the pool and a small view of the sea.

However, the evening entertainment was slightly disappointing and the food on the site was not the best. I strongly recommend going into town for tea if you’re staying half/full board.

The evening entertainment is ok for a night or two but again probably better to visit a bar in the town for a better night!

Overall though a good holiday and would certainly recommend to anybody thinking of going!

  59. butterfield6698 Says:

We stayed at the Alcudia pins from the 9th-16th may 2006. The hotel location is a bit of a way out toward the end of Alcudia its self more next door to Can Picafort.

There was me my hubby & 4 children aged 14,13,9,10 months. And the hotel was fantastic fantastic fantastic. Entertainment was full on during day & evening and had kids clubs there too for all ages.

The hotel reception staff were fantastic and understood English as a second language, which was brill. The hotel restaurant was fantastic too, no complaints at all. The food was great also and had freshly cooked different choice of meat each evening, they made you feel very welcome indeed and customer service was top notch, really made our stay pleasant. The bar staff were fab too.

The hotel room we had was a 2 bed roomed and was big enough for us all and had plenty of room to 10euro for the week safe hire!! Tea coffee making facilities and a cooker too which was fab, and we had a pool view room upon request.

This hotel has now been upgraded to a 5* which I can see why there was football, tennis courts, go-carts,1 huge big massive pool with slide too kids were all ways in it, shops bar, resturants, pizza & burger bar & a Irish bar on the complex too.

They had bingo on each night which was worth winning & playing for, on a night it did get very nippy as the hotel is directly on the beach, so don’t forget to pack a cardi or use the hotel blanket as which everyone did!!

The hotel I would recommend to every one of all ages we had a fantastic time there and the kids miss it highly, if your kids are happy and occupied it less nagging for you lol.

  60. Mr J Duff Says:

I stayed at this hotel in may 2006 with my wife and two children aged 2 and 6 and I could not fault it.

Yes as everybody else has commented, the rooms are quite small but for the amount of time we spent in it the room was fine.

The staff were very friendly and the facilities, food and entertainment was great perfect for families with small children.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone going back there this year.

  61. Mrs M Butterfield Says:

Well what can I say, we had a fantastic holiday. I have 4 children aged then 14-13-9 & 18 months I can say the kids had a fantastic time.

Plenty to do for them on the complex which stopped them nagging at us. Basket ball ,go-carts, football, tennis and children’s entertainment. The pool is fab.

We went on the 9th of May 2006 it was a bit of a chill in the evening, so take a cardi but during the day it was hot hot hot as the week went on was def warmer on a night.

Entertainment was ok what you expect from most hotel entertainment. Had bingo every night which was worth winning I can tell ya, drinks were average price.

The hotel is sat direct on the beach and the sea is crystal clear, better than America the beach was very clean & hotel is a bit of a distance from Alcudia town centre but regular buses.

Hotel staff were very friendly & restaurant staff were too, we stopped in the 2 bedroom apartment and was very impressed by the cleanliness and daily cleaning.

We are definitely going back as the kids could not stop saying how much they missed it, which from teenagers is a bonus. I would rate it 10/10.

  62. Miss K Rogers Says:

Alcudia pins is fantastic, I have been going there every year since I was 6 I am now 17. I know the place like the back of my hand.

I would recommend this place to anyone. Beach a walk away, cheap nice food all day, lovely pool, water slide, underground arcade, underground bar, entertainment every night aimed at both adults and children, supermarket close by, doctors, market, kids club, tennis courts, football courts, lovely Irish pub, more arcades up the road, 3minute walk away from restaurants, donkey rides, taxi’s, bus stop, gift shops, more arcades and more bars. Daytime entertainment, beautiful sea and pool view available.

Over the past 11 years we have only had 1 problem. The 1 year we asked for a sea view do you know what we got, a beautiful view of the back of the pub. It was a late night when we got there and my mom complained straight away, we were moved within the hour and the rest of the holiday was great, like usual.

Well I think everyone should try Alcudia pins it is fantastic and I am going for the 12th time next may with my partner and I will hopefully be going there much more. I will definitely be taking my kids there, when I get some!

  63. Mrs S Bull Says:

We stayed for 10 nights at the Alcudia Pins - 3 adults and 3 children aged 8yrs, 4&1/2yrs and 2&1/2 yrs. The room was suitable (just about pool view) but pretty noisy as we were close to the steps so every night you could hear guests arriving or leaving with their suit cases bump, bump bumping on the stairs.

It wasn’t enough to spoil the holiday for us though! Beware of the red floor tiles around the pool - what a death trap! I can not believe how slippery they were, even without being wet, what is the point of them being there. I couldn’t rest with my 2 & 1/2 year old for fear he would split his head open, which I can well imagine has happened many times, I can’t count how many people we saw slip on them. Still we spent most days on the beach (which is on the doorstep).

The sun beds were 2euros each and the umbrella was 3 euros. Please beware that the sea can get pretty rough - my husband and 8 year old almost got lost at sea - fortunately my son was using a rubber ring. My husband got pulled out of his depth by the undercurrent and could not physically swim them both back to shore (it must be said he is a pretty fit and strong swimmer). A man who was standing with the sea only up to his middle was only a couple of meters in front of them.

He noticed they were struggling and came to help them, but before you new it he was taken by the current as well - eventually the life guard was called and thankfully everyone was back safe and sound. From that day on the beach was patrolled with life guards, warning people to keep in and not to get out of their depths. I could not beleive that we were not warned of the dangers in the sea, this could have been done at the welcome meeting.

My son loved the kids club and enjoyed joining in the mini disco which started at 8pm on the terrace. At 9pm there was a game of bingo winning up to 250 euros and then the adult entertainment started at 10 til 12midnight. Every nights entertainment was well worth watching, in fact we didn’t plan to stay out late at night but most nights we didn’t leave until the very end, and even joined in with the last ‘Cartoon Hero’s dance with the kids - great fun!!

There is nothing to shout about nearby the hotel - you need to get on the bus or take a taxi to find any life. The bus is really cheap and very clean with aircon. There is a supermarket and a few souvenir shops near by but that’s about it. We did find a place to eat about 5-10minutes walk from the hotel ‘The underground’ - very friendly and nice meals.

One night out not to be missed is ‘Pirates’ - a fantastic night out, especially with the kids. Quite expensive but well worth the money.

Please also remember that if you are a smoker cigarettes or tobacco is not available to buy in any shop other that a tobaccos - and there is none anywhere near Alcudia pins. You’d need to get the bus into the town.

Over all not too bad a holiday although the kids couldn’t fault it!

  64. Mr J McDonald Says:

Flight: relatively short. On arrival, the Airtours rep was easy to find and the bus nearby. The coach trip was long - about 1.5 hours, with a couple of drop offs on the way (Pins was the last stop). No problems on arrival at the Hotel - staff were efficient. Got a shock when we saw the room - too small for two adults and two kids - should have gone for a two bedroom room.

We had requested a sea view, which we got, if I leant over and tilted my head I could just see it from the balcony. The kids club was great for the eldest child, but the youngest one wouldn’t stay until later in the week, so we were stuck with her 24 hours a day which really became a drag towards the end of the week - didn’t seem like a holiday, more like normal daily life in a warmer country.

The half board was a bad idea - the selection was a bit too continental, with battered broccoli and cauliflower for breakfast and mostly mouse-like trifles for dessert. Meat was either non-existent or thin and fatty. Definitely should have gone self-catering - there are enough local cafes and restaurants and a supermarket nearby to keep you well fed, with a couple having play areas for the kids. The pool was a good size but cold until very late afternoon, as was the sea water.

The beach was the best thing about the entire holiday - just 50 yards from the hotel and miles long. The heat during the day was stifling at the pool but very comfortable at the beach due to a constant breeze. However, this turned into a cold North wind each night - with nearly all of the guests sitting around with coats and blankets around them when watching the evening entertainment, which was mostly amateurish but passed the time and kept the kids happy.

Drink was about the same price as the UK which was disappointing. The guests were mainly UK, with a small number of Dutch, Danish, Germans and Scandinavian accents about the place. Quite a few of the English looked like they had just walked out from their council estate (complete with tattoos and tracksuits), with their chav clothes, manners and brat kids. Some really rough looking women, rougher men and fat oikey kids in tow.

I’m not sure I would go back. Worst part was the trip home - 1.75 hours, with a few pick-ups on the way and a lot more people on board, on a warm late morning and at least three kids and pregnant women vomiting for good measure - a long, warm bumpy, smelly trip.

  65. Ms Ann-Maire Reynolds Says:

I would have to agree with everything the previous reviewer had to say.

I went on holiday as single parent with my 7 year old and had a great time, was made to feel very welcome and all the other guest were great, was surprised how busy it was for the time of year and do not thing I would like to go here in July and August, it must be manic. Having said that I have already rebooked for the 1st week in May next year.

All the staff are wonderful, especially the Hotel Entertainment team, they are best I have ever seen, they never stop from 10.00 in the morning until midnight. The food is excellent and the rooms are really nice, normally if you are half board you only get a bed and bathroom, but all the rooms have living rooms, kitchen areas and separate bedrooms.

I would highly recommend Alcudia Pins especially for families, it is slightly isolated but there is so much to do on site, and the fact there is a taxi rank and bus stop right outside, it is not a problem.

    Can’t wait until next year.

  66. Mrs J Catton Says:

We have just got back from a week at the Alcudia pins hotel in Mallorca. I must say I was a little worried about this hotel from reviews I had read. I am glad to say all bad comments I read were unfounded, it was fantastic!

I went with 2 kids aged 11 and 12 and grandparents, one of which uses a wheelchair. The Hotel couldn’t have been more accommodating, giving ground floor rooms to us. They were very helpful and the only down side was very steep ramps to access restaurant areas, and to some rooms. We did mention this to hotel staff and they said it is to be changed later this year.

The rooms were very clean and well equipped with kettle, fridge, microwave and stove. Also all cups plates etc. Beds were comfortable and sheets changed twice during our week stay with fresh towels every other day.

The food was very good with lots of choice and staff were very friendly and helpful. Most people were able to find food they liked. We didn’t have any problems.

Entertainment was good for young children in evenings with adult entertainment later, also nightly bingo. There was also a large TV showing sport each night.

During day small children and babies were able to use mini club and crèche whilst older children had games of football, tennis, dodge ball and street hockey with entertainment staff.

The resort is a little isolated being between Can Picafort and Alcudia, but a short cheap bus ride takes you to either resort. Trips are available from hotel but are quite expensive and most places can be reached by local bus or taxi.

Just outside back of pool area you are on the beach which has white sand and beautiful blue sea, a boat leaves daily from a small jetty taking tourist on trips.
A good family resort with great facilities for all the family.

  67. Mrs G Rouse Says:

What a fantastic holiday. Me my husband and 5 of our 6 children were here for 1 week, self catering. Our room was brilliant, requested a pool view and got the best room we reckon on the complex, bottom floor and right at side of pool, could sit on the balcony and watch the kids in the pool all day.

The beach is brilliant, really clean and right on your doorstep. We bought dinner passes for most of the days here and the food was all you could eat and not bad either my kids especially the older ones made the most of it. This hotel is 100% family.

If you don’t like or haven’t got children then don’t go, if you do then don’t winge on these reports about the kids when you get back, they are on holiday and they make the most of it. I’ve read some reviews on other sites and to be fair kids, water pistols, shouting, are all in a kids nature when on holiday.

The entertainment was really good albeit inside due to the time of year, still 80 on most days though, the staff and everything about this hotel is great we going back in a weeks time for 2 weeks can’t wait.

  68. Miss L Davis Says:

If I could have given this a 0/10 I would have.

Unfortunately we went allocated on arrival and ended up at this hellhole.
Apart from the fact that there were screaming babies everywhere (to be expected) it all seemed fine.

    Our apartment had a
